What’s Your Word for 2026?
Choose Your Word For 2026!
Every year around this time, I start thinking about what my word for the year will be.
Choosing a word as an intention and focus for the year began when my mom was diagnosed with nearly stage 4 colon cancer in October 2011. She quickly got the surgery to remove the tumor, but looking into 2012 was daunting as she was not out of risk by any means. I wanted to focus on total healing for my mom, so I decided to choose a word and focus on it for 2012, and I chose ‘Health’. Those were the days when our devices did not store passwords, and every time I wanted to check my email, etc, I would have to type out H-E-A-L-T-H.
As I typed, I envisioned health-- not only for my mom, but for our family, and for our world.
The power of intention setting, prayer, and planting seeds of what you want to see in the world is very powerful. As 2012 came to a close, I saw my mom regain her health, and I could see and support her in a path back to her full vitality.
Every year since 2012, I have chosen a word. They have ranged from 'fun' to 'awesome' to 'stoke' to last year 'brutal'. For me, brutal was about putting personal boundaries in place and sticking to what I felt was right and what I wanted. As a high empath, it can feel "brutal" to me to say “no” to someone, to prioritize the way I want things done, and to place my needs in front of others. But it turns out that this restructuring into what may feel ‘brutal’ to me was actually exactly what my Self and Hunt Vitality needed!
Moving into 2026 feels both daunting and exciting. Daunting on a global and collective perspective, exciting on a personal. My oldest son Jake is a sophomore at Nevada Union and crushing it. He is on the soccer team and just got his driver’s license! Giles is in 8th grade and focusing on surfing for his 8th-grade project. Giles continues to be the master of fun and riding that edge in life, but he is also doing really well in school and making healthy choices for himself and his body. Ian is in 5th grade, and we still wonder where this kid comes from. He is super smart and seems to be good at everything he does, in addition to loving things none of the rest of us like, such as cooking! All three are focused on building as much muscle as possible. There is a bench press and weights in Jake’s room, and every night I am serenaded with push-ups, bicep curls, sit-ups, and more.
Word ideas for 2026? Miracle and Verve.
‘Verve’ because it is just fun, and it is how I want to be as a state of being, as an operating system of myself. V may be my new favorite letter of the alphabet. Verve is vivacious, vibrant, victorious, visionary, venturesome, vigorous, vital, versatile, and voluptuous, and of course VITALITY. It is the word I feel embodies estrogen, and as I reach nearly 50 years old, that feels important also!
‘Miracle’ because I want the perspective from which I see the world to be framed in “miracle”. There are so many miracles every day, and I can miss them if I am not focused on it. I want ‘miracle’ to be my lens and my expectation for 2026.
Despite our outer world, what we do have say over is our own lives and how we make choices, how we place our focus, and how that impacts the people and the world around us. The higher I can keep my personal stoke, the more positive impact I have as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, woman, healer, and global citizen. I have learned that this is not selfish, this is VITAL.
My 2026 wish for you is that you feel your innate worth, beauty, and health and prioritize your own self-care in order to embody your true VITALITY.
We are here for you. Let's go 2026!!!
